Jay Morris Communications LLC is an independent public relations and marketing firm formed in October 2011 by Jay Morris. JMC draws on the knowledge and 30-plus years of experience of Morris, an award-winning writer, communicator and association executive.
Prior to starting JMC, Morris served as senior vice president of marketing and communications at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions. At NAFCU, he led the marketing and communications divisions and managed the PR, marketing and publishing functions of this mid-sized trade association based in Arlington, Va.
Morris previously was director of public affairs for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and manager of government research and publications for the National Restaurant Association.
He began his career as a reporter and photographer with the Tidewater News and then became editor of the Chesapeake Post. He has been a contributing writer for Restaurants USA, The Tidewater Virginian, City Paper, Veteran, Almanac of the Unelected, The Independent Writer, Advisor Today, Capitol Communicator, PRSA-NCC Blog and The Federal Credit Union.
A long-time member of the Public Relations Society of America, Morris currently serves on the PRSA-NCC Board of Directors and is a past co-chair the National Capital Chapter’s Professional Development Committee. He also serves on the board of the Independent Public Relations Alliance, a professional network of PR consultants, independent agencies and allied services firms.
JMC’s clients include trade associations, financial institutions, small businesses, nonprofits and start-ups.
